Doubles/Doubts

Doubles/Doubts, 16mm film, colour, silent, 2 mins, 55 seconds, 2021

Reporting on the last of the expired 100T from the 400ft spooled down to four short collage tests. And I think this is the best for light and grain. This is a film of doubles and reflections, mirrors and opposites, eyes and feathers, the usual gold leaf makes an appearance too, images selected from some of the books at home, Christine Borland’s use of an etching of conjoined twins from one of her catalogs, through to some images of a performance by Jimmy Robert and the late Ian White, Carol Bove peacock feathers, Christian Boltanski, Jack Smith and Suspiria too. This is a very delicate arrangement, quite claustrophobic, shot in lots of light, not human light, on a make shift rig at home, 5 and 10mm extension tubes, prisms, mirrors. Staying present and evaporating too. Thank you to Gauge Film. Dedicated to RHP who would have turned 60 today 11/3/2021.
